Neal Welcome Center & Historical Museum-Located at 108 East Main Street in Carlisle this building serves an event venue, local history museum, and tourism information center. Open hours may vary depending on season.
Forest Retreat Bed & Breakfast– Built in 1836 this one time governor’s mansion now serves as a historical district, event venue, and bed and breakfast. One of the most beautiful places in Kentucky, it is a must see while you are in the Licking Valley Adventures area.
Lake Carnico– This 150 acre lake is full of recreational possibilities. Possibilities include the beach and boat ramp, to fishing, and the nearby golf course. A fun day in the sun is only minutes from downtown Carlisle. The lake is located just 3 miles north of Carlisle along HWY 1455 just off US 68.
North Central 4-H Center– Built in 1964, this 350 acre camping complex is home to summer 4-H camping for 27 central Kentucky counties. Outside of the summer 4-H season the camp is available for use by outside groups. Call 859-289-5308 for more information.
Lake Carnico Golf Course– This 9 hole golf course is located at N Lakeshore Dr. and US 68, is just 3 miles north of Carlisle nestled next to lovely Lake Carnico. There are carts available for use. For more information call 859-473-4677 or 859-473-0123.
Hildreth One Room School House– Built in 1895 and used as a school until 1941, walking into this one room school house is like walking back in time. The school was the site of a filming of Huckleberry Finn and has been used as a religious gathering place. The Hildreth School has been restored and preserved by the Nicholas County Historical Society. The school was moved from its original location and now resides on the Nicholas County School District property in Carlisle.
